We have already spoken about the Eiffel Tower, our tricolore flag, the Marseillaise
and our national day: July 14th. Let's see together other symbols of France !
Three words define our Republic: Liberté, Egalité and Fraternité
Liberté ( = freedom) applies for every french citizen, it is a right given to everyone
Egalité ( = equality) among citizens, no one is supposed to be "superior"
Fraternité means brotherhood as we are considered as brothers and sisters
đ This motto came from the ideas of the French Revolution (again!) in 1789.
Marianne

Marianne is an important figure of the Republic as she personifies French people and the democratic values.
She is always represented wearing a cap called the bonnet phrygien (Phrygian cap) and a scarf or a flag with the colours of our country.
She doesn't have a "fixed" face, you can see some representations of her on stamps for example, but it can change :

She tends to be drawn as a beautiful woman, bien sĂ»r ! đđ
Le coq (the rooster)
đŁCocorico ! Cock-a-doodle-doo !
The rooster is a nice symbol: it seems that even the Gallic people had taken this animal as an emblem. It is the equivalent of the lion in UK. Kings of France has adopted it because of its courage. Later, Napoleon would prefer the eagle as an emblem.
In the field of sports, we keep on using it, for instance on the shirt of soccer or rugby players :

le maillot du XV de France
A bientĂŽt ! See you ! đâđââïž
